What Some Christians Call Holiness

I was at a ‘Christian’ forum that talked about holiness standards. There was one person who was talking about how God could not move on this country until we went back to the holiness style of dress. This entailed that men should cut hair and women should not cut hair. Men should be clean shaven with no facial hair. Women should only wear dresses that go down to the ankle. Women should not wear makeup because the cosmetics were from the temple prostitutes. The only jewerly that should be worn is a married person wearing a wedding band (engagement rings, high school class rings, earrings are worldly). This person then tried to justify his ‘holiness’ actions later on with this post.

I think that one of the greatest witnesses in the modern 21st century of how mankind really views the distinction between the dress of sexes is? Public Bathrooms! The pictures on the doors to the ladies room always show a women in a dress or skirt, never a pair of pants. Not even a pair of shorts. The men’s room always shows a man with a pair of pants on and a shirt, no shorts here either! Isn’t it wonderful that even as hard as society has tried to erase the distiniction in dress that our public restroom signs show how society truly views what is a man’s and a women’s garment! Glory be to God for using society to fight societies on views!

I thought about this and went to look at some men and ladies bathroom signs from sign companies on the Internet with the international symbols of man and woman on them and I then had some observations:

Seriously: Most of those symbols show the woman’s dress or skirt being knee length. Does this mean per this person’s ‘holiness’ standars that the woman in those international symbols for the women’s restroom is a harlot and a ‘Jezebel’ because the dress is not down to ankle length?

In Jest: The handicapped symbol drawn in a parking place or the walk sign at a busy intersection is a male symbol, does this mean that handicapped women can not park in these spaces or women can not cross the street?

Amazing what people will try to use to justify their definition of ‘holiness’.

    Do you believe that “cross dressers” are going to make it to the kingdom? When you think of a man wearing a dress, that doesn’t bring the pearly gates to my mind!

    Gawd. It’s so ABSURD to see this insistence on dresses and skirts when by definition they are the MOST IMMODEST of clothing selections. They are OPEN at the bottom for godssake, exposing the genitals to any passing breeze or rape inclined passerby. They provide easy access to the sexual predator, known or unknown. Further more, they are unsafe. Women in dresses are simply not as mobile or flexible in their movements. Men can, at a moment’s notice, engage in ANY activity they wish, whether it be climbing a tree or escaping a burning building. Not so a woman in a dress, who is hampered and restricted at every turn. Get over it already, and get with it. PANTS are the “dress” of choice for modesty, safety, and mobitliy. Period.

    Up until about 60 to 70 years ago most if not all women wore dresses, you can’t justify trying to get out of a tree or a burning building for an excuse to wear pants. How many times has that happened to you in your life time. ? For over 4000 years and up to about 60 or 70 years ago, women were known to either wear long or knee length dresses, and men to wear pants. But just in a few short years, that has all changed because of womens lib. My dear friends God does not change, we can change with the times but he does not. Why would I want to go with a fad that has just changed over a few decades ago. When the way of Holiness dress has ALWAYS been dresses. The bible says for men not to dress like women and visa versa. It is very clear. You better be careful who you follow, God or the devil. I will guarantee you this I dont wear my dress above the knee or down to my ankle but I wear them in between. And the reason I dress the way I dress period is because the Holy Ghost tells me how I can or cannot dress. And the rules are not different for everyone else. People just dont want to go against the world or stand out as Holiness and the Bible says if you are ashamed of me, I will also be ashamed of you to my father. The way of Holiness is very simple and clear. People need to stop trying to contaminate it, with nonsence and if they would really live for God and follow close in his ways, and be truthful with them selves, anyone claiming to be holiness would be submitting to the spirit and be dressing if a woman in a dress or skirt and long sleeves and men in pants and long sleeves. Also true holiness women are not normally out after dark they are at home with their families or whoever and normally they do not attract the opposit sex in the way of rape because the opposit sex put them in a catagory with God and there for will go the the next that is dressed more seductive and immoral……. or in tight pants and low cut shirts or shorts or just whatever wordly and seductive way they dress. And that is the truth. If the whole world truly lived for God and dressed morally and acted with Character, this world would not be anything like it is now. I see women that let their poor teenage daughters wear little or nothing or just plain tight and then wonder why they got raped at a party or out jogging or just shopping, wake up America. You are doing that to your kids, and it is your fault when they get hurt…..
