Look at the court victories that awarded millions of dollars to a coffee-spilling fast-food patron, and those that find a homeowner liable for injuries sustained by a person committing criminal acts on their property. These reflect more on the "victim mentality" that is prevalent in our culture than on a desire to take the powerful down a notch, but I think it says something about both.
