Wild Men, Where Are Thou?

27 April 2004 2 Comments

Rick over at Brutally Honest referred me to this excellent article by Doug Giles entitled “Where Are God’s Warriors and Wild Men?” that addresses why most men in the church are feminized. While he mentioned many of the main common reasons, he failed to mention four other influential things that caused the feminization of man in the church.

(1): “Butterfly Kisses” by Bob Carisle. Men who did not cry over this song or worked overtime to provide for their families were seen as calloused, carnal, and fleshly.
(2): Promise Creepers, especially their ‘reconciliation and overcompensation’ era during the Clinton years that White Southern American Males were deemed as automatic racists and were responsible for everything that went wrong in this nation and had to overcompensate everyone to be ‘redeemed in the eyes of God’.
(3): Focus on The Family’s attempt to take us back to the “Leave it To Beaver” days.
(4): The bashing of the Ned Flanders character of The Simpsons as blasphemous when most effeminate Christian men I know act exactly like Ned Flanders.

Wild At Heart, and proud of it.

I agree with your comment about promise keepers. There was a point where they sort of had the right balance and then things started getting a little creepy.
