Who is Rene Gonzalez and why should he/she (actually a he) deserve this award in the midst of Michael Jackson’s arraignment, Kellen Winslow Jr.’s comments about the Washington Redskins, and Jayson Williams split verdict?

I had never heard of Rene Gonzalez before until I was reading Rick’s Brutally Honest blog and came across a post entitled The Daily Collegian – Pat Tillman is not a hero: He got what was coming to him. In this post, Rick posts the article Mr. Gonzalez wrote for The Daily Collegian entitled “Pat Tillman is not a hero: He got what was coming to him” that states that Tillman went into the Rangers not because of what happened on 9-11-01, but to “act out his nationalist-patriotic fantasies forged in years of exposure to Clint Eastwood and Rambo movies…”

What a sick person to come up with this stuff. Even the president of Gonzalez’s alma matter stated in another article that Rene Gonzalez’ comments in The Daily Collegian “are a disgusting, arrogant and intellectually immature attack on a human being who died in service to his country.”
