Missionaries Spoke At My Church Today

At church, we had some missionaries that spoke during the service. They were pretty decent speakers and actually preached the Word of God out of Isaiah 66Open Link in New Window. They did not do the typical missionary service of:

(1): Slide shows. In fact, this missionary had a nicely edited video.

(2): The video did not end with a sunset over some natural geographic phenomeon. In pentecostal (and I later learned this happened in independent fundamental Baptist) circles, it was always customary to end the slide show with a sunset over some natural geographic phenomeon. It ended with a message of hope.

(3): They did not force the crowd to sing ‘I Love You Lord’ in the native tongues of the country they are missionaries to with a smile on their face and the wife playing piano or Guitar.

(4): Repeat #3

(5): Repeat #3

(6): Repeat #3

(7): Repeat #3

(8): Did not show up with eight kids with number nine on the way to show back up again next year with number nine in diapers and number ten on the way. And you wonder who are you really feeding, the nation or the missionary family.

(9): Did not call the Americans selfish, ungreatful, and fake Christians.

(10): Did not offer the solution of getting rid of condition #9 by giving them all of your money and/or spending some time over in their land.

(11): Did not deem the natives they evangelize as ‘the real remnant’ Christians and American Christians as ‘Laodicea’.

A different breed of missionary.
