The ’seek and scan’ game

However, I had a brief afterthought about this song in reference to the sceek and scan game I play with my car stereo everyday. We men love to play the seek and scan game with everything from women to cars to power tools. We seek and seek until we find the right thing, we procure the thing, and when the thing quits being good to us or drives us to boredom, we start scanning again until we discover something else and the cycle repeats itself until the point where we stop because we ‘have arrived’ at the destination we set our goals to accomplish. Whether it is arriving at work in the morning, home in the afternoon, arriving with the SUV of our dreams, or whatever it is, we seek and scan for something better while sometimes, we just need to be greatful and contempt for the blessings we already have.

  1. You have discovered a precious truth that sadly most men and especiallyhristian men do not get.

I say Christian men because from what I’ve seen in my 40+ years as a believer, Christian men seem to be especially prone to what I am about to say.

Men seem to have a “maybe something is better over the hill”when it comes to marrying.

I have a friend who went through this with a Christian guy who was a cast member of a hugely popular sitcom years ago. That was his claim to fame. He kind of wanted to marry her but felt there might be someone better and prettier in his future. So, wisely she dumped him.Later she found someone who is much better looking (at least IMO).

And what happend to the other guy? After the series went off the air you never heard of him again. He tried his hand at singing and I think now appears at Branson with the revived Lawrence Welk show. He would be in his 60’s now.

I don’t know if he ever married.
