‘Next Level’ Theology

25 July 2004 3 Comments

Where is this in the Bible? I can not find this no where in the Scriptures. However, we hear preachers tell their congregations and prophesy that a person is ‘getting prepared to go to “the next level” in the Spirit’.

If we really believe in ‘next level’ theology, then we must really believe that God works like a corporation where organizational charts are the norm and ‘perks’ are rewarded like promotions or like a MLM / pyramid scheme where the people at the top are the blessed ones.

Also, this would have to be in disagreement with the verse in Romans 2:11 where it states that “For there is no respect of persons with God.” since in ‘next level’ theology the more levels you move up, the more favor one has with God.

There is no such thing as ‘next level’. We are on the same and equal playing field on a Christian walk.

Basically it’s a new type of false “holiness” teaching where they have mixed up justication with sanctification.

In fact, the Third Wavers are looking like the Roman Catholic church more and more every day in every way.

Example: their followers are asked to fast so much that I’m afraid we are going to have thousands of anorexics on our hands in the next few years.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with the statement the next level. We are all trying to get closer to God and I think thats all it means. Even in Jewish times, there is in the Psalms, the Psalms of Ascent. Going Higher up the steps to the temple. So I don’t really see anything wrong with it. I hope that daily I”m going to a new level in my relationship with the Lord.

    “Next level?”

Last time I heard that phrase in anything theological, it was about “Join Bo and Peep behind Hale-Bopp”.
