SINsitive
We have moved from being sensitive to being seeker-sensitive creating powerelss milk-fed Christians while eradicating Christians who ate meat and were grounded in the Word in the name of a Ego Kingdom, a bigger building, and a corporate entity of church growth management. We need to go into a new era of being sensitive that I would like to call:
SINsitivity
We need to become more aware and conscious of the sin that is trying to work inside and through us. As totems, transgressions, taboos, temptations, and tattoos war within us trying to prevent us from being the most effective Temple of the Holy Spirit we can be, we need to relearn how to die daily to the flesh, relearn how to crucify ourselves, relearn how to overcome temptation, and relearn how to rely on the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
I do not mean to go back into a re-legalistic system of do’s and dont’s that were based on one man’s personal opinion made denomination theology of all. I mean we give out grace when grace is need but perform the actions of Jude 22-23 where we show compassion mixed with the Fear of God while hating the sin and the corruption caused by poor choices in participating in fleshly activities.
There is only one feasible way of being SINsitive with consistentcy. We must become a Word and Spirit church with balance on both sides to where we allow the Word to work inside of us and reveal the truth of the Holy Spirit while at the same time allow the Holy Spirit to provide power in our lives to apply, understand, enable, and activate the Word in our daily lives.
You can’t have one without the other. The Baptists tried all Word and no Spirit and justified no Spirit with their theory of Cessationalism. The Pentecostals, Charismatics, Third Wavers, and Riverites have tried all Spirit and no Word and justified no Word as experiences over Scripture. History has showed us what happens when the Word and the Spirit are not in proper balance. It’s time now to allow the balance of the Word and Spirit to be in full operation, control, and activated in our lives. When we have this balance, we can then become SINsitive to our failures and shortcomings and deal with them instead of SINsationalizing the power of sin in our lives or SINsationalizing fleshly actions called ‘Spirit’ .

Excellent observation. You are absolutely correct that when God says He’s doing a new thing, it doesn’t mean He is doing something He never did before. Rather, it means just what you said…that He is perhaps doing something done before but new to those particular generation/peoples.
I believe 2 Tim. 4:3-4 has become far more relevant of late. Doctrine, as such, seems to have fallen on hard times as a means of conveying biblical truth. The “Death, Burial and Resurrection Only” crowd have come to completely ignored Heb. 5:11 – 6:3 and so the “sheep” starve on such milky fare. “Let us go on…” is an ignored concept as the concern for “unity” supercedes any concern for truth. There has developed a dubious ability to so wrap the doctrines of sovereign grace in language that is non-confrontational that Arminianism rests easy in such presence and semi-Pelagianism, long held, may comfortably look the other way. The Supreme Courts land grab, may be the undoing of many mega-churches so that concerns for pensions, new sanctuary seating and building additions may be relegated to history. Perhaps with such concerns put aside, we may return to the weightier matters of doctrinal truth and evangelism may once again be directed toward building up Christ’s church rather than building improvements and the need for fresh sheep to be sheered for their support.
