Faith – A Nebulous Concept

29 December 2004 One Comment

How many times do you hear it?
It goes on all day long
Everyone knows everything
And no one’s ever wrong
Until later…

Who can you believe?
It’s hard to play it safe
But apart from a few good friends
We don’t take anything on faith
Until later…

These lyrics, taken from the Rush song “Show Don’t Tell” are reflecting many emotions that I am feeling right now. Right now, Seeing is Believing. Hearing is Believing. Feeling is Believing. but most importantly as I have been reading the Word more…

Reading is Believing. Doing is Believing

The more I read the Scriptures, the more the Christian megatrends come clearer to me that they do not align up with the Scriptures. The more megatrend leaders that have their theology day in the Sun come and go, the more I want to read and try my best to memorize the Word and get closer to God’s son. The more new megatrend leaders expose the last megatrend leader as a heretic and repeats the vicious cycle, the more I need to keep the Word in my heart.

There is a difference between Godly Faith and ‘that God Kind of faith’

The problem is, I do not really understand what Godly Faith really is….

How do my friends retain the Word in their memory? I read it and retain part of it, but find it very hard to find it when I need to quote it. I need more retention and better memory skills to better memorize the Word. Folks, we will need this one day Between rumors of political leaders who threaten to take our Bible away to Bible translators who will translate to fit personal agendas instead of God’s sovereign truth, we need to retain in our minds as much Word as we can.

How can I increase my memory to do this? I want to know.

I had this same problem but then realized that the word “memorize” wasn’t even in the Bible. But the word “mediate” is. To mediate means “to mutter” from the Hebrew. In other words, think about and speak the Scripture. When we meditate, we automatically memorize.
