Onward, Forward, Toward... the blog from availablelightonline.com, is the documentation of the journey out of the charismatic and third wave movements into a Reformed Theology emphasizing Godly and Scriptural guidelines concerning the Holy Spirit and Spiritual Gifts.
I visit many forums and blogs that discuss Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven Life. Many of these Internet sites use an abbreviation of “PDL”. The thing about this abbreviation is that I am too used to seeing too many car ads in the newspaper (to save space) use that abbreviation to mean:
Power Door Locks
I wonder if there is a hidden meaning here that God should come down with his Sovereign Power and Lock the Door to the Purpose Driven Life model in order to bring the church back to genuine Christianity instead of this fluff?
In mid February, I wrote a post entitled The Franchising of Church where I discussed:
What would happen if someone decided to take their church, their concepts, their mentalities, their aesthetics, etc. and decided to sell them in a ‘packet’ and franchise themselves out to anyone who said that they were a pastor and could come up with the money to pay the franchise fee?
Well, based on a link to this article (thanks to Michael at The Boars Head Tavern for providing this link) this is now becoming a present reality that is snowballing.
I just got finished reading an excellent post over at Messy Christian entitled Power Plays where she discusses her frustrations about the politics and power plays that go on in the Christian Blogosphere.
I had received numerous e-mails telling me about a NBC Dateline show that was going to be broadcased on March 6 about a new report concerning the ministry and lifestyle of Benny Hinn. I was told that this expose was going to start at the beginning of the second hour. I therefore decided to watch the show and see what it was all about.
I was finally able to listen to part one of the White Horse Inn’s discussion about The Emergent Church. I found their comments very truthful and affirming to what I have written and believed.
