“Mere Christianity” - A Book Discussion

I would like to do a blog discussion of the book “Mere Christianity” by C. S. Lewis.

From the Back Cover:

Mere Christianity is the most popular of C. S. Lewis’s works of nonfiction, with several million copies sold worldwide. Heard first as radio addresses (on the BBC in the early 1940’s) and then published as three separate books The Case for Christianity, Christian Behavior, and Beyond Personality this book brings together Lewis’s legendary broadcast talks of the war years, talks in which he set out simply to “explain and defend the belief that has been common to nearly all Christians at all times.”

I invite readers of this blog to join with me and comment on the chapters in this book throughout the summer as I post my comments in a thread post. If you have a blog and decide to blog on this book at the same time, you are free to leave the direct link to the specific thread in your comments. I will start on Saturday, July 9, 2005 with my comments on this blog beginning with chapter one entitled “The Law of Human Nature”.

  1. Isn’t that the book that converted Chuck Colson?

  2. I do not know

  3. I’ll join you! So, how does this work? we read a chapter a week? I post on my blog and send a trackback to your site?

  4. MC (and others):

On Saturday, I will have a post about a chapter. You will then either comment on the thread and/or you can comment on your own blog and trackback.

I will then set a deadline date for the next chapter and repeat the scenerio.

  5. Stuart Mason says:

I one of his books Colson mentions that he was converted while reading “MereChristianity.” The book provided the final push, as it were. I was saved while reading “The Screwtape Letters” and inhaled “Mere Christianity” as son as I could get it into my hands.
