The Promise Is Still A Promise

I usually do not turn on TV religion except for Charles Stanley but I laid on my couch last night waiting for the evening football game to come on and I decided to see what Jack Hayford was discussing on his tv show. Hayford began preaching from Genesis 15Open Link in New Window about the covenant that Hayford God promised Abram concerning a child to be his heir.

From there, Hayford discussed this Scripture from the perspective of years later when no signs of the covenant and promise appears in sight in the realm and one begins to think that

They must have done something to make God angry and God must have withdrawn his promise or too many circumstanes / too many years have gone by making it way too late to lay claim on the promise.

It brought back to my memory something that I have felt that God wanted for me in my life but felt as if I was way too old, made too many mistakes, endured too many circumstances, and must have made God very angry at me to every obtain, desire, and accomplish. It was then that I realized that the promise was still a promise and that it will one day come true.

However, I must wait (and wait and wait) and prepare for the right time for the fruition of this promise and not try to rush things and make it happen by my own means like what Abram did in Genesis 16Open Link in New Window. Instead, I must let the true fulfillment of the promise come forth like it did in Genesis 21Open Link in New Window.

  1. Glad you have “discovered” Hayford. In my 8 years as a member of his church, this was one of the main themes of his teachings…..that is….that the promise will come.
