The Turning Around, Part Five
Turning around from a ‘two year derailment’ and around from being a ‘purpose-driven seeker-sensitive’ church (I have learned) is a heavy but temporary price to pay. However, this price in the long run will yield blessing, harvest, integrity, proper Biblical doctrine, and truth and will be more than worth the price to pay.
I have received another letter from ‘the church’ that has discussed the latest fallback from the events that have taken place within the past months. Attendance/membership has dropped approximately thirty-five to forty percent and therefore donations have dropped. Instead of blaming the ‘great Satan’ and someone’s “secret sin”; “lack of faith”; etc, like most pentecostal / charismatic churches would do, ‘the session’ has decided to take an attitude of being faithful stewards of what God has provided.
Therefore, this meant some restructuring in the church budget and restructuring in some ministry areas due to some staff positions being cut (the layoff took place last week) and some vacant staff positions not being filled at this time. I hate the fact that some people will become unemployed as a result of what has happened but this had to be done not only for financial reasons but also to further make the u-turn in the turning around. I do not mean to sound so cold in the midst of someone’s new struggle but some of the people whose positions were cut were adamant supporters of the ‘purpose-driven seeker-sensitive’ concepts and because of this partially contributed to ‘the two year derailment’ that took place.
Yes, the price is being paid at this time because the cost of listening to Christian mega trends, church growth experts, ‘purpose-driven seeker-sensitive’ pablum, and pastors turned ‘Christianized’ C.E.O.’s of a corporate church was not accounted for.
Another part of trying to complete the U-turn in order to continue the turning around.
