I am seeing this more and more today in many people’s sermons. I define this as being when someone takes a Bible character or story and try to rewrite/redefine it for the 21st century. I heard a faith preacher on television one night tell me that Jesus wore ‘designer tunics’ because he was so tall (approx 7 feet tall) when compared to the average height of a citizen of the nation of Israel (approx 5′7″ to 5′10″ tall) and tried to equate it to if Jesus was here today …

Tonight at ‘the church’ marked the first sermon from ‘the interm pastor’ that accepted the call to pastor while we transition out of ‘the two year derailment’ into bigger and better things. He preached from Mark 4:35-41 and geared the sermon on two main points.
