If I Was In Detroit Rock City This Week

I would be at the 2006 North American International Auto Show instead of having to read the articles from the Autos Insider section of the Detroit News

I loved the looks of the concept Chevrolet Camaro along with the looks of the concept Dodge Challenger. The Solstice and the Sky looked beautiful along with the Imperial concept car. Even though the Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, and Escalade has been shown, where is the rumored 2007 Silverado at? I thought it was supposed to have been premiered at this show?

The Jeep Compass looked interesting as if this is going to be a Subaru fighter. However, I could not figure out the new Ford Edge as well as the sister Lincoln MKX. In fact, the Edge with the same three chrome bar grill that the Fusion has looked hideous. I have seen a Fusion up close and those three chrome bars look very tacky like a cheap add-on attachment purchased at Auto Zone and also comes across looking like the vent louvers of a high-school gym locker.

The big disappointment for me was the re-designed Jeep Wrangler. It seems like every time this vehicle is redesigned, it gets wimpyer in appearance, more compromised in ruggedness, and gets more and more outrageously priced. They are nowhere like the old CJ series Jeeps in the 1970’s and 1980’s.

My favorite was the Camaro concept car. I hope GM brings this car back with a slightly restyled front grille that does not look like the Cadillac and looks more like the 1969 Camaro SS.
