In the late 1980’s, professional wrestler Hulk Hogan used to tell little children to
Say your prayers, take vitamins, and believe in yourself.
It’s 2006, is this what Christians are really doing today?
They say their prayers. We have serenity prayers, we have Jabez prayers and I could go on and on. However the best model is the Lord’s Prayer found in Matthew.
Look at Christianinty today, megavitamins, detoxifiers and other health-related MLM schemes run rampant throughout the Christian scene. We have Christian magazines advertising bee pollen, televangelists selling Trivata, and tour single-income homeschooling mom selling the stuff at night at ladies parties. Look at the people who push this stuff. Do they look ultra vibrant and healthy or do they look ragged and worn out from working an ten hour days and four hour night parties selling this stuff?
We believe in ourselves more than we believe in God. We are ‘purpose-driven’, we expect Christian political candidates to work miracles of morality when God wants us to look at ourselves and deal with our own self. We build a big church, formulize it, market the formula, and call it ‘God’.
As the Hulk Hogan phraze was scripted, so it appears much of today’s bland, unauthentic, and cliche Christianity is also. Christian lifestyles that flow with anointing and vibrance does not come when the right pattern, formula, and script is acted. It comes when we are spontaneously ’supernaturally natural’ and in Him we live, move, and have our being.
Can I get an ‘Amen’?
Amen…..BROTHERRRRR!!!!!

As the Hulk Hogan phraze was scripted, so it appears much of today’s bland, unauthentic, and cliche Christianity is also.
And you don’t even get the bad-movie aficionado’s appeal of Santa with Muscles and Three Ninjas at Renamed-Magic Mountain…
