Michael Spencer over at Internet Monk gets it right once again when he talks about July 4th, God, politics, and idolotry of the theo-political Christian Utopia in his excellent article American Idolatry: With God On Our Side that’s worth your read.

I was hoping you would read Michael’s post as I thought of you when I read it. As I’ve told you before, here in Southern California this type of thing is almsot unheard of in our evangelical churches. The closest it woule come would be a July 4th message on what the Puritans and some of the Founding Fathers believed theologically – not politically. It would always be hooked into theology. Nobody out here would ever talk about politics from the pulpit.
