Onward, Forward, Toward…

Even though I do not agree with Greg Boyd (open-theism is a rank heresy to me), I am glad that he took a stand against the explosive and lethal combination of church and politics (the American Flag part I disagree with). It appears that this stand will cost him dearly since approximately one-fifth of his church has left.

Yesterday, I came across an well written article from Michael Spencer at Internet Monk entitled The Coffeehouse: A Story that discusses an everyday story about an imaginary youth leader named Skip Towne (love the humor in that name) and his quest to open up a Christian coffee shop in the ‘cool spot’ of his city.

A true prophet is not a Charismatic witch/warlock who curses those he disagrees with; not a charismatic fortune teller that will tell you some generic and nebulous word for your money; nor is he a charismatic magician who has to use deception and charm to pull a rabbit out of his hat to please the onlooking crowd that is out in the audience.

I recently received this e-mail from Andrew Strom’s Revivalschool (and also from numerous friends who received the same e-mail and forwarded it to me) and found it to be of interest.

I have been pondering in my head for the past couple of years about the interrealtion between Superstition and Spirituality in the Christian realms…..

I was channel surfing during a commercial break that occured during ESPN’s SportsCenter and came across this TV show called ‘Yo Momma” on MTV. The show appears to be filmed at nighttime on the top floor of a parking deck in Los Angeles because you constantly see the “JESUS SAVES” neon signs in the background. The object of this show is for the contestants to win money by seeing who is the best at verbally insulting their opponent’s mother.
They deeply insult their opponent’s mother but you never see these people …
