Another crucial meeting of “The Turning Around†at ‘the church’ took place tonight. The church started off singing a couple of the choruses and then proceeded into prayer for the Pastoral Search Committee, the meeting, some personal prayer requests, etc. After the prayer, several issues were addressed in reference to the Pastoral Search Committee, feedback from the last congregational meeting, updates on processes implemented, etc.

This morning, it was announced by the Pastoral Search Committee that their trip to the General Convention last month was fruitful and successful. The position was advertised there and contacts/applications were received during the after-hours time at the convention. There was also discussion of how they have reviewed countless sermons, Internet streaming sermons, viewed web pages, etc. and spent alot of time in prayer and have recieved advice from the Presbytery and the chairman of the Ministerial committee within our Presbytery.

When I was around nine years old, there used to be a cartoon segment that appeared along with the Scooby Doo cartoon entitled The Laff-A-Lympics that was a cartton spoof combination of the Olympics and the ABC television series Battle of the Network Stars.

A friend of mine sent this quote to me:

I do not know from which C.S. Lewis book this was from, but the quote really resonates within me. It seems that all the Christian megatrends are not feeding sheep, but instead either experimenting the latest pragmatic church growth movement or teaching new ‘tricks (bait and switch) ‘ for evangelism.
