Watching cable news television, there have been numerous ’specials’ about the one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and how it ravaged the Gulf Coast and literally destroyed New Orleans. During the breaks, their weather ‘experts’ came on with the latest on Tropical Depression Debby and Tropical Storm Ernesto…
As the expert was talking about Ernesto, he mentioned that Ernesto was taking a very similar path that Katrina took one year ago. Then the ’strike probability’ chart from the National Hurricane Center was shown with a likely strike point being New Orleans.
I realize that these forecasts and potential strike points are subject to change but I could not help but think about what happened one year ago as Katrina came to shore. Then my mind began to think about the many ‘Christian perspectives’ from God destroying the sin of Mardi Gras and voodoo. Satan destroyed New Orleans. We’re still are under judgement for eight years of the Clintons? We went against Israel? God destroyed modern day Sodom and Gomorrah. God was after the Democrat mayor. The one ‘prophet’ who claimed that he foretold this in 1977 and we failed to listen and act and we better listen to him now, etc….
I immediately thought:
What if The Gulf Coast gets struck again by another hurricane?
Will we hear from Christians that the evil was not fully destroyed and that God had to further destroy it? Will we see comparisons to the plages in the time of Moses? Will we hear that God destroyed it again because the voodoo, Mardi Gras, and casinos were allowed to rebuild? Will we hear that God is mad that Ray Nagin was reelected mayor? Will we hear once again that God is mad at the christians for not taking the city over and purging the evil and that this nation is still under wrath for eight years of the Clintons? Will another ‘prophet’ rise up and claim he foretold this and demand us to accept and listen to him?
If this happens, we probably would hear these same rationales once again and how Pat Robertson kept a hurricane off the Virginia coast while developing a mega protein shake.
