Several years back, I had friends praying for someone who had killed themselves to be brought back to life. It started out as a simple, "let's ask God if He might consider it" and quickly devolved into a spirtual train wreck.

I was there when the prayer was conceived: I and two young ministers all had the same thought at the same time. I was asked to pray about it right then but I stated that I wanted to pray about it and hear from the Lord first, which I did. The answer I got--without going into detail--was simply "no".

They persisted, "standing' in prayer for a resurrection for more than forty-five days. Turmoil entered their mini9stries, the man's widow was becoming emotionally unbalanced and ikt was just a mess.

I was praying for them all as they were friends and was very concerned but there was nothing you could say as they believed they were excercising "faith".

In the midst of the worst of it, I had a dream where I was taken backstage and met "Kathryn Kuhlman". It was very realistic and I know almost nothing about her and in the end, she leaned over, looked me in the eye and turned into an angelic being. When I awoke, the holy spirit asked me, "What do you think that was?" I said, it was an angel. The spirit then prompted me, "What kind?" I had to respond that I really didn't know. I spent the day thinking it over and that evening in prayer told the Lord that I believed it was an "angel of light"--a fallen angel. It did nothing "evil" but nothing about it glorified God or Christ--it was just a fascination--a glamour such as a mythical faerie would produce.

In the end, the experiences my friends went through brought them to bitterness and it ended all opf our friendships (not by my choice).

When I read the very same "Emma" post on the very site you mentioned, my hair stood on end. Todd's description of what "Emma" looked like was EXACTLY what I had seen in my own dream--even with the detail of Katherine Kuhlman being mentioned prominently.

Just an FYI. In case you winder, I had a lot of experiences with the occult and supernatural before i was even aware that such a thing was possible in the Christian experience. For me, this was a "no brainer".

As Ken said, "sounds an aweful lot like a spirtualist".

The way the article talks about angels sounds a lot like a Spiritualist talking about their spirit guides or something.

The problem with questioning the "charis-quacks" like Bentley and Jones is that people automatically want to get into a cessation/non-cessation debate. I don't care if you embrace Spiritual Gifts, but let's stop these audacious claims of getting "audible words from God" and angelic visitations. Bob Jones and Mike Bickle are both really good at pointing out prophecies and visions that came true after the fact. Consequently, so are fortune-tellers and Word Faith teachers.
