A friend of mine alerted me to a Time Magazine article that is online and scheduled to appear in this weeks Time Magazine print edition entitled “Does God Want You to Be Rich? A Holy Controversy”. The article talked about the propserity gospel and that the content is definately worth reading.
I was suprised and very glad at the same time to see in the article Michael Spencer’s quote about Joel Osteen:

Coming back from the grocery store, I drove by numerous new car dealerships seeing the bright colored signs offering up low financing, high trade in, etc. I thought about this in reference to the first article I wrote last night and something stood out in my mind.

I was thinking alot about these church growth techniques designed to get people in the sanctuary and they reminded me very much of the techniques that new car manufacturers (and/or dealers) are now using to get people in the showroom.
