No, this is not a ripoff of the 4-H club. However, it is the subject of an excellent article I was made aware of from a man named Rodney Olsen entitled Why Do Men Hate Church that referenced both an article from Sydney Anglicans (worth reading) and a mp3 clip (worth downloading) that talked about this stuff in a perspective different from John Eldredge and David Murrow.
Now if we can find the delicate balance between the dude-ranch discipleship and the feminized-man fraternities.
