When Both Sides Lose A Debate

By admin • May 20, 2007 • Filed in: General

It finally happened on May 5, 2007. The much anticipated debate of Brian & Kelly versus Kirk and Ray at Calvary Baptist Church in New York City

“Throwdown In The Tabernacle”

I finally got some time this afternoon to finally watch this debate and analyze it. Not much analysis to do because in reality, both sides lost.

Kirk and Ray did not fully and scientifically prove the existence of God without using the Bible or appealing to faith.

Brian and Kelly did not fully disprove the existence of God by their use of logic.

But you read most Christian media, the fact that Kirk and Ray profess to be Christian means they already won the debate by default. After the debate, they played the persecution card in this interview but in reality, all five of these individuals {moderator Martin Bashir (from the Michael Jackson interview fame) } got “Left Behind” in this waste of time that convinced no one of either side while both sides later on ‘pimped’ their web pages.

What we saw here was the same ‘reductionary rhetoric’ that has been tried throughout the ages. Logic reducing Christianity to a flaw because of Hitler, Bin Laden. Christianity reducing itself to a game of pragmatics of paralleling a car to God. Because the car exists, God exists.

First of all, the main reason why Kirk and Ray failed was because it takes faith and the Word of God to show the existence of God. All science could do is provide a partial confirmation to the existence of God and not a full confirmation. We still have to have the Bible and faith to even believe that God exists.

Why?

Because scripture is the final authority. Not personal opinion. Not Finneyistic scare-tactics, Not logic and not you’re a good person.

The two things that really turned me off from Kirk and Ray were (1): Not wanting to answer one question when both responded ‘No’ but immediately said a statement that led to an answer. and (2): Kirk’s pictures of the sheepdog, the bullfrog, etc.

I would have asked Brian and Kelly where did we humans come from. Of course, they probably would have stated that we came from the monkeys, chimpanzees, and the apes. I would have had them describe the process that took place to go from monkeys, chimpanzees, and apes to human. They probably would have responded that we evolved over many many years. I would have then stopped and made this question / statement:

Would you say that today, there are still monkeys on the earth? I would say so. From zoos where children enjoy watching them, to scientific research centers where they use monkeys to test pharmaceuticals that may cure incurable diseases, to the jungles where many run wild in their natural habitat; there are still monkeys on planet earth.

Therefore, if man evolved from the monkey to the human being, then why hasn’t every monkey decided to metamorph into a human being? If evolving means ‘becoming better’ and monkeys would be considered as being worse in the ‘chain’ than a human why are there monkeys still existent on earth today? I’ll tell you why. Monkeys can not evolve into humans. If monkeys had this capability, then monkeys would have had to enact one of the pillars of evolution called natural selection to ‘naturally select’ their extinction from earth to take their ‘positive qualities’ and evolving them to become man.

Therefore, since monkeys can not enact the principle of natural selection and natural selection is a founding pillar of evolution, then animals can in no way evolve according to Darwinistic theories and therefore evolution is false and is toppled over.

Then after proving the point and sealing the fate, take out the scriptures to show Genesis 2:7 where it states:

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

No animal, fish, etc did not receive their first breath from God. They received their first breath from the air God created to provide life. Man was the only one that had God breathe unto him to both breathe life and also awaken the spiritual side of man and to also have dominion over the earth. The creatures were made according to their kind but man was made from the image of God. Later on, we see God put Adam into a deep sleep to remove a rib and make Eve and God communicated with Adam and Eve.

When we believe that animal can evolve into man, we are saying that out of mere flesh can evolve into a soul/spirit. Also, if this was even remotely possible could we then say that animal could then also share the same dominion with the man over the earth? If this was possible, then would man try to evolve into God and also try to claim a stake into the dominion of God? Genesis 3:22 stated that man and woman, after eating the forbidden fruit, had became like God (not God) and would try to take the tree of life.

God stopped man evolution at creation by thwarting man’s attempt to become God
Science (created by God himself) prohibits the animal evolution to become man.

That’s the problem with sinful man. It is always looking to become a higher order to become more and more of a God. That is the problem with evolutionistic pragmatic Christianity, it is always looking for a ‘next-level’ anointing to become like God. Man was created to be man. Animal was created to be animal. You were created to be you and not God.

Ask an evolutionist if animals evolved into man, then what is man supposed to evolve into? Ask him why after thousands of years of existence that man is stupid to where he can’t evolve into something else and why monkeys are still on the earth?

It hits us hard…..

It hits us hard when we see a Christianity that promises a ‘next level’ anointing if we would just ‘naturally select’ ourselves to evolve into the next level and maintain this by ’survival of the fittest.

I think about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and when I do, I have to think about Calvary where Jesus was crucified on a tree made into a cross. Where Adam and Eve ate of the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they ate death. When I partake of Holy Communion symbolizing eating the body of Jesus whose stripes I am healed and drinking the blood that represents the atoning of my sins, I choose to eat and drink life, and life more abundantly to my spirit.

Evolution leads eventually to death by living out one’s own beliefs trying to evolve to a new level
Creationism leads us to resurrection and eternal life by dying to ourselves and crucifying the flesh to thrive where we are.
