Al-Emergent

Al-Queda supports the Emergent Church according to this article. Even though I agree with the author’s insights on the Emergent Church, I believe the author went way too far in trying to compare them to Al-Queda and to apply the ‘Theopolitics of Americanity” as the solution.

The Emergents taking over the church will not usher in Al-Queda. They will usher in heresies and attempt to deconstruct the Bible and reconstruct another version to suit their ungodly wants, mysticism, support of gays, labyrinths, and covert blending of New Age teachings into Christianity. The ‘Bible-believing patriots … those conservative, evangelical Christians who are the bedrock of the American way of life’ will not save us.

Only God can.

Well, I basically agree with his premise that true Christianity is the only thing that will save this country from anything, including the muslim radicals. And he did a brilliant analysis of who the emergents really are–liberal Protestants although he didn’t use that word.

But I agree with you Bob, that “Americanism” isn’t the way to achieve this. I don’t know if you know who this gemtleman, Frank Pastore , is. He is an ex-pro baseball player (I cannot remember who he played for). He hosts a very, very Christian Right talk show on one of the largest Christian radio stations (it’s Salem-owned) in the country, KKLA right here where I live–in Los Angeles. In fact they have their studios in my city (which is next to L.A.). Every day he has ultra-Christian Right and/or ultra right political guests on his program. But he also is involved with the very good phlosophy department at BIOLA. In fact, the motto for the whole station and especially his program is the one I “borrowed” for my blog, but of course changed somewhat so I wouldn’t be plagiariazing. The motto is:
The Intersection of Faith and Reason
