You’re a Good Man, T2T
This past week was a very beautiful and affirming week. Starting last Sunday with the ‘Men’s service’ at church that really encouraged me to e-mails that came from people I haven’t heard from in a long time, to complements from fellow co-workers, to seeing a great friend I haven’t seen in five years yesterday, and a response from a local woman who noticed that I read her profile at a Christian dating site who very politely told me that she had signed on only to modify her new city she is moving to in a couple of weeks and saw my profile and was ‘deeply touched’. What I heard in all of these occasions was the same common thread:
You’re a Good Man, T2T
I feel that all of these instances were part of the edifying and encouragement processes and not to create a big ego that needed to be stroked. It was great and easy to hear, accept, and thank the people who stated the compliments. However, it is very hard to live it day-to-day when you see your own flaws that everyone else either does not see, outright deny, or overlook with lots of grace.
However, good is not ‘good’ enough for me. One day, I want to be able to hear more and more that same phrase in humility where the word ‘good’ is changed to ‘Godly’ not to stroke the Ego, edify the ID, nor to feed the narcissism. It’s more due to the fact that I am becoming more and more of a believer in heritage and legacy that I want to be remembered years from now as a Godly man much more than just being a ‘good man’.
You’re a Godly Man, T2T
I love the sound of that.
