Q: Why The Name Change?
A: The new name of the blog has in many ways reflected the type of Christian walk that I have journeyed on for the past six years.
Ever since leaving the pentecostal, then charismatic, and then the Vineyard movement for a Evangelical Presbyterian Church that embraced the Reformed Theology while emphasizing Godly and Scriptural guidelines in the areas of the Holy Spirit and Spiritual Gifts along with experiencing the ‘cave and wilderness’, that phrase has been a personal motto to me. I have had to go”
Onward as in going towards a defined place in my Christian walk trying my best to live out a correct orthodoxy.
Forward as in a direction of progress towards that correct orthodoxy.
Toward as in facing the imminent battle for correct orthodoxy as heterodoxy is both increasing and also becoming more pragmatic and prevalent.
And I will continue onward, forward, and toward until the day that I die. It’s the only way that I know know as the road gets narrower and narrower.
Love the new name!!
We went from Pentecostal (ordained ministers) to Charismatic before finally settling in an Evangelical Presbyterian Church also. How glad we are.
Andrew:
Glad to hear from you again!!!!
I’m happy for you also that you have successfully made that transition. God Bless You!!!
I am also in Presbyterian Church although it is a PCUSA one. But it is more evangelical than the general perception of the more liberal PCUSA denomination. I really miss the Pentecostal churches but frankly I got tired of the imbalance and the comlpete lack of any type of Reformational teaching.
DIANE,
I became a believer in the PCUSA. It used to be an awesome church. I know what you mean that people have perceptions of PCUSA being liberal but our church was not. We had quite a few charismatics who attended but then they left. I left that church and joined PCA. Now I am back at PCUSA but am disappointed since they really don’t preach the gospel much anymore. My husband is a former pentecostal and then AOG but he likes presbyterian churches. I think we will look into either evangelical free or
Evangelical Pres.
