Anti-Christ of the week ending 10-20-07 is:

George Steinbrenner,

The classless way Steinbrenner, his family, and the entire New York Yankees organization handled the Joe Torre contract talks.

Designed from the start to make Torre look like the guy quitting instead of Steinbrenner outright telling Torre that his contract would not be renewed. If Steinbrenner publically stated that Torre’s contract would not be renewed, he would look like the bad guy and also we would see a bolting of Yankee free agents Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettitte, and potentially Alex Rodriguez out the door.

I think we will see the free agents leave anyhow to play for other teams. As for Torre, what will he do?
