In my post on August 24, 2007 entitled Now “Walk It Out”, I talked about how surprised I was that no Christian youth group has not taken the “Walk It Out” song by Unk and ‘Christianized’ it. Well, it has finally been done. Please click on the “Continue Reading” link below to view the video.
I found this when I viewed this blog post and followed a YouTube link to a video that had Michael Jackson’s Thriller being danced to as part of a youth service at a church in Georgia.
There is also a video of the same youth group doing a skit to “Liar” by The Rollins Band. done some time back.
Is it time to “Walk It Out” or should we be ‘walking out’ of the Christo-circus and going back to the heart of God?
Sounds like the latest “Stupid Christian Trick” subset of “Stupid People Tricks”. Even to the not-so-implied born-again boobage on Da Danca accompanying Da Rappa.
What was the pitch sheet of this like? I’m hoping it was pitched as a filk, but more likely it was the standars “Just like “Walk It Out”, except CHRISTIAN!”?

Ken:
Pitched towards contemporary youth culture.
What happens to this when Gangsta Rap (TM) becomes (in the words of Buffy the Vampire Slayer) “Oh So Day-Before-Yesterday”?
(Like the Seventies-style pop knockoff of CCM…)
The Bible states that our God doesn’t change. However, when you see these cultural trends come and go, one would probably ask the question:
Does God change?
and then assume that he does even though the Bible speaks otherwise.

In answer to your question, they laugh it off; especially parents who will many years later show the video clip to the future spouse-in-law and the future grandkids what their mom and/or dad did and laugh and laugh and laugh…..
The real tragedy is that the mentality of this is “this will ’save the masses’ and get them to Jesus’.
and the cycle repeats…. and repeats. Looking for the ‘one thing’ that will ‘do the trick’
