In 1987, dog track owner Jerry Collins was the main party that donated 1.3 million dollars to bail out Oral Roberts who stated that he had to raise $8 million for medical missionary scholarships for ORU by March 1 or God would take him home.
In 2007, Mart Green, founder of Christian supply store chain Mardel, announced that he would immediately donate $8 million, while stipulating the remaining $62 million upon a 60- to 90-day review of the school’s financial records to keep ORU afloat after the allegations of improper and excessive spending by ORal Robert’s son Richard came to knowlege.
