I’ve gotten messed up by Pietism and gotten very cranky (zero tolerance for stupidity) in my old age. Pietism to me has always had two pillars:
1) “Don’t think, just BE-LEEEEEEVE!”
2) I Go Farther Than You, So I’m More Spiritual Than Thou. Can You Top This?
The first removes any chance of a reality check, and the second guarantees things will get very weird very fast.
