Thinking About God’s Sovereignty

My theological mind has ben stimulated by this article by Rick Ianniello.

Right now, I am leaning and working towards the position he has defined as option ‘2′ (Providential Sovereignity). What a relief!

However, I am recovering from what I would call ‘Conditional Sovereignity’ where I would define it as:

While God is bringing about his will in everything (Eph 1:11Open Link in New Window), his will is designed to be lived out. However, all that happens happens because someone either ‘got it right’ (in reference to good) and God was glorified or someone ‘dropped the ball’ (aka ’sinned’ in reference to evil) and God was prohibited by our freewill choice of sin to move on our behalf. In order to see God glorified, the ‘dropping of the ball’ had to be ‘rectified’ to a certain point to where God could then forgive us and then come back and be able to intervene in the affairs of humanity to bring about his purpose and his will.

In the case of your socks, you can choose what color of socks you want to wear, but you better be correct in your choice. Choosing the right pair of socks meant favor, blessing, and the ability for God to move on your life while wearing the wrong pair of socks ‘closed God off’ from you to the point of disfavor, curses, and God not even listening to you would be on your life.

This position holds some tension with regards to the human will and the divine will but creates extreme tension, anxiety, paranoia, and hysteria in the person in reference to ‘getting it right’

God is not in control of everything, but needs us to ‘get right’ in order for Him to regain control of everything.
