So it appears that Tatted Todd has finally jumped the shark.

The con man is leaving town, either skipping with the $$$ or taking the show on the road for new crops of easy marks.

This wasn’t revival. This was a summer theme park, freak show, “Revivalmania / Summer Slam”, county carnival three-ring circus act ... strategically planned from the very beginning to last from April and end in early August to take advantage of the Summer time Charismatic Christian vacation crowd....

You DO know that "carnies" tend to be con men, separating marks from their money, don't you? After all, Anton LaVey started out as a carnie, and look at all the Celebrities, Yuppies, and Christian Spiritual Warriors he duped.

Some will claim in their ‘believer’s authority’ that they can ask God to smite those who stood up against the revival (aka Touching the Anointed) by asking God to do the following to those who disagreed…
* Miss the rapture
* Take away salvation
* Send down weird and incurable diseases to kill
* Send down cancer
* Send a natural disaster to demolish homes and property
* Take jobs away causing homelessness and poverty
* Make minds reprobate
* Place birth defects on the next four generations of descendants
* Turn Christian daughters into impregnated out-of-wedlock crack-whores
* Turn Christian sons into drug dealers who go to prison to do hard time
* Break up marriages and families...

Question, Admin. How does that differ from a Hexerai putting hexes on somebody with black magick? Invoking and commanding their pet gods or familiar spirits to destroy their enemies real or imagined? i.e. classic Witchcraft?

I thought (like Homey the Clown) Christ "don't play that game". Isn't there some commandment about "taking The Name in vain", i.e. invoking God as justification for doing evil?

Looking back, because we got the ’smooth, soothe, and spin’ of ‘Positivanity’ from both sides of the issue, should we hold the Vineyard partially responsible for not flat out rebuking these guys (in a lowest common denominator sense - not telling the full truth)?

I am beginning to think so.

---

We are now seeing phaze 2 of this revival. Strader has his revival now back at Ignited Church, Bentley has his world tour, and it seems that the 'damage control' is out in full force.

I now fear that not only will Todd Bentley be the 'guinea pig for God', but he will be the 'whipping boy' and the 'pentecostal pawn' as the 'rebellious revivalists' turn into the 'rebuking reformers' acting like they have 'cleaned house' and leave Todd out to dry with his new lot in Polk County and his 'revival decoder ring' while they use their money made via Todd's toil to plan out their next revivals, prophecies to add up to the date of their next scheduled man-made revival, and mega fasts for round two.

I need to continue a thought when I said:

###
I really believe (in my personal OPINION) we will find out later on that whoever provided products and services to the revival probably agreed to some type of ‘net 60 day’ payment plan (because it was ‘the church’ and the church can always be trusted…) and will more than likely not receive payment for their products and services because the financiers of the revival (in my personal OPINION) probably never intended to pay knowing they could find another business to provide the same products and services and repeat the cycle with another business when the business that provided products and services started asking when they were going to get paid?
###

It is natural for a business to contact a customer when a customer hasn't paid and ask when payment will be received.

It is also natural for a business to stop supplying products and services when the customer doesn't pay or does not make negotiated arrangements.

It is also natural for a competing business to try to take away business from a competitor and to also try to win the business from a client when the client is thinking about switching vendors. However, competing businesses seem to always fail to find out why and what happened between the customer and the previous vendor.

And the cycle repeats.

Rick - check your e-mail.

Rick and pjmiller:

From what I've kind of seen in the past, it has basically become necessary to expose the error because when a split occurs, it seems that both sides do not fully reveal the truth and all we see is 'smooth, soothe, and spin' where lawyers start talking on both sides where both sides either fear a lawsuit over slander or fear a 'touch not mine anointed' syndrome because both sides to some degree use that theology to suppress people to some degree, or the concept of 'Positivanity' (our Christianity is always positive to where we don't speak negative about anyone or anything fearing God zapping our Holy Heineys) was in practice.

This has also contributed to the byproduct where we have failed to see the rebukes, therefore per pjmiller's words "allowing the false teachers and doctrines to come into our fellowships, without openly SHOUTING out warnings day and night."

That was the main reason why I stated that "We will find out the truth one day".

I remember being in a Vineyard church when The Toronto Blessing was kicked out. I remember when Mike Bickle's group left the Vineyard, we got the 'smooth, soothe, and spin' of 'Positivanity' from both the Vineyard's side and also the Toronto Blessing's / Metro Vineyard's side.

Years later, we found out the truth.... and the truth wasn't pretty.

Rick, hope its ok if i take a stab at your question:

"...when is it enough? That is is there a point where we are too focused on exposing error rather than promoting truth?"

Both need to be done.

Is there a point when error, even what has/is still transpiring in lakeland and now is soon to become a 'traveling circus' should stop being pointed out vigerously? I say no No NO!

The only reason we, the Church, are having to deal with this nonsense today is because too many over the last 20-30 years sat back allowing the false teachers and doctrines to come into our fellowships, without openly SHOUTING out warnings day and night.

Perhaps if we had done this; warned about, openly rebuked and denounced such garbage as the prosperity teachings, and those who brought them in, (which seems mild compared to todays nuts and their doctrines) we wouldn't be faced with having to deal with the blasphemers, heretical teachings, and doctrines of demons we are witnessing today...

you say:

"I think the point has been made and it feels a bit like kicking a dead horse"

Friend, the 'horse ain't dead'....it has started its galloping across the US and into other nations as i write.

Don't be fooled by a tent being taken down--whats one tent compared to the world? The next rising star to sit upon this horse may not be Bentley, but it will have a rider--

God bless...

I'm with you on the issues here. I think it's important that someone update the rest of us on the issues - and I thank you for that.

My question however is when is it enough? That is is there a point where we are too focused on exposing error rather than promoting truth?

Net, for what it's worth, I think the point has been made and it feels a bit like kicking a dead horse.

That aside, if you feel ok with it, please email me personally (rianniello at gmail dot com) regarding the "real truth" around Toronto and the KC deal. I have been in the Vineyard since well before those and I thought I knew the truth as it was happening. You got me curious about what I may have missed.

Thanks again ... good blogging.
