Review, Buddy Rich Memorial Concert

A couple of weeks ago, I was sent an e-mail from a friend of mine who told me that Rush drummer Neil Peart was going to be performing at the Buddy Rich Memorial Concert held 10-18-08 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City with the Buddy Rich Band….

I’m thinking, cool, I’ll go rent the DVD when released or watch clips on YouTube at 3 AM the next morning when some fan smuggled a videocamera in and got some clips…. However, my friend’s next statement really caught my attention….

It’s going to be streamed live over the Internet at drumchannel.com

block out my calendar.. I am going to spend a Saturday night watching big band music online… Since I do not live in New York City, the only option I had was to watch it online with cablemodem

Who Is The Financial Culprit?

One day, this Time Magazine article stated that the prosperity gospel caused the collapse while economists blame the sub-prime mortgages.

However, everyone’s ‘favorite’ (said sarcastically) spiritual warfare guru from the craziness of Colorado Springs (and the innovator behind the I-35 / Isaiah 35 foolishess) has her opinion….

Satan…….. (aka The Devil , aka the “De-bull”, aka the “Debble”)

And what is she wanting to do about it?…..

….issuing a worldwide prophetic call to a Day of Prayer for the World’s Economies on October 29, 2008.

In order to ‘Stop Satan From Bringing forth The Great Depression number 2. Another number 2 reference from someone who like Julie Meyer in my last post, is full of number 2.

Cindy Jacobs, we are already in a Great Depression financially, spiritually, and emotionally. Along with articles about the financial depression, I am seeing more and more articles like this one discussing emotional depression. The spiritual depression of greedy investors that caused this financial depression is triggering the emotional depression of distraught people that are losing their homes and the money from their IRA’s and 401K investment plans.

Of course, Jacobs picks a “significant” day for this Prayer. The anniversary of the 1929 Stock Market Crash that caused the first Great Depression.

What if God is bringing this forth to teach us that Jesus is really all we need for our security, our daily necessities, and our life?

I look at Christianity today and I see people asking questions about this financial collapse and all I am seeing from churches is asking for more money not for ’storehouse’ ministries, but for building expansions, staff additions, paying on buildings designed for the double portion membership that never arrived, and to feed the ‘monster machine’ called the corporate church to fund another future failed church growth program that we will laugh about years later when we start the new church growth program.

Everyone else is cutting back but it seems that the churches want to get more bloated. I’ve had friends tell me that instead of hearing sermons that offer assurance and relief that God is still in control in the midst of the financial collapse, they have heard more sermons on giving/tithing and the 30/60/100 fold blessing than in years past. More sermons on why we need another four years of ‘God’s Official Party’ to overturn Roe vs. Wade, pass constitutional marriage amendments, and eliminate the lottery. In fact, if we Christians have to be in poverty and become homeless “For Jesus” to usher forth the theocracy that will overturn Roe vs. Wade, pass constitutional marriage amendments, and eliminate the lottery, then ‘By God’ you better learn to beg and panhandle.

It seems that the church is so out of touch placing their ‘faith and fate’ in a ‘politicanity’ than in God and Christianity where God can be sovereign only if we vote for the right candidate when the Bible teaches that God is forever sovereign and provident.

In fact, the church is becoming everyday more and more like Jerry Maguire and Rod Tidwell…..

Show me the money!

Dan over at Cerulean Sanctum is asking the correct question concerning if the pulpits are silent now? They are silent about the turbulent times. They are angry about the possibility of a ‘DEMONcrat’ spoken in legalese designed to loophole the 501c3 laws of the land. They are greedy asking for more money to more mis-manage. They are silent about the greed that caused this financial collapse because the same greed that brought this forth is the same greed that placed some money in their own offering plates every Sunday morning. Hey, didn’t one of the convicted Enron guys teach Sunday School?

It doesn’t matter who the financial culprit was. It really doesn’t. All that matters is that we realize that Jesus is all we need.
