Anger Army
It’s been four days since America had it’s Presidential election…..
And what have I seen out of the ‘official Christian reaction’? The re-formation of the “Anger Army”. The same army that was constantly nit-picking and angry about the last Democrat. The same army that told of the ‘coming black cloud’. The same army that constantly called us to mega-fasts, pray-a-thons, and ‘if my people…..” rallies.
False prophets angry that their prophecies did not come to pass to where they could continue building on the theme of Sarah Palin being the “Esther” or possessing the “Deborah Anointing” in order to “pimp-a-sign” sales of their DVD’s and downloadable mp3′s. Was it the fault of “O-HI-O” (a Julie Meyer reference)?
People laying blame because we didn’t have enough prayer. Give me a break!!!! Another Evangelical Excuse!!!! Dutch Sheets lays his ‘anger’ at the church for not doing enough!!! But then again, the “Colorado Springs Charismatic Crazy Ones” embarrass Christianity as usual, First it was Ted Haggard, then the FOTF pray for rain video, then Wagner / Lakeland, and now this ‘evangelical excuse’
Sounds alot like what the Word of Faith people usually say when miracles never come. Well the two movements run in a similar vein called ‘domionalism’ who believe that God can not be sovereign and provident and His hands are tied unless we ‘vote for the right people’.
Alice in Chains, in their song “Angry Chair” said this:
Sitting on an angry chair
Angry walls that steal the air
Stomach hurts and I don’t careWhat do I see across the way
See myself molded in clay
Stares at me, yeah I’m afraid
Changing the shape of his face
And that’s all I hear, Anger Armies prancing around stating that it’s time for more mega fasts and pray-a-thons (is 9-9-09, 10-10-10, and 11-11-11 a good day for you?). Anger Armies vowing to ‘get even and back odd again’ promising the ‘holy hex’ on those who disagree and stand in the way. Anger Armies blaming everyone who disagrees with them for their deluded shortcomings.
If the Anger Army, NARBots, and the Religious right want to point fingers of blame at someone, why can’t they point the finger at themselves because of the ‘Challenging opponents Christianity’ tactics they tried to use (It sure cost Elizabeth Dole…).
History seems to forget things but before John McCain was about to announce his running mate, it was the ‘religious right leaders’ who bullied, threatened, and terrorized (while claiming to be defeating terrorism) the Republican party telling them to select a vice-president of their dominionalist agenda or we will tell our ‘millions of mindless Messianic minions’ (who fear losing their unearthly place in heaven if they dare to think differently than what Family News In Focus thinks) to ‘stay home’ in November. Of course, we see what happened. Instead of Mitt Romney as a Vice President candidate, we saw Sarah Palin, the poster child for Christian conservatives with a church history traceable to the NAR which in turn is traceable to domionalism and Lakeland / Todd Bentley. If the pentecostalism / dominionist mentality of “Ashcroft’s Reign of Terror” wasn’t scary enough, how about the third wave / apostolic / dominionist Christian beliefs of Sarah Palin?
We did not see the death of America on November 4, 2008. We saw the death of the American religious right, the Christian Coalition, and the Moral Majority. And it was not Obama who killed it, the Religious right ‘suicided’ themselves as too many Christians were tired of belonging to ‘Poverty for Jesus’, “Hungry For Christ”, (starving for food), “Laid-off For God”, and ‘Foreclosed and Repossessed For Jesus’ societies along with seeing billions of dollars spent on a ‘holy war’ where the original identified enemy of 9-11-01 (Osama Bin Laden) is still nowhere to be found while diverting our attention to Iraq.
The future shift that will probably take place within that party (I really believe) in the next four years will see the Republican party shift back to what made it what it was; an emphasis on big business making tons of money at the expense of oppressing the working class in the name of ‘the new GOP’. The religious right will be blamed by the ‘old wealth’ within the GOP (who didn’t care about babies in the first place) as the dead weight that brought the party down that needs to be trimmed.
The party that was supposed to ‘protect’ us from the eminent persecution may be the party that revolts and ushers in the persecution. It would be Ironic because everyone else thought it would be the “DEMONcrats”, the “ACLU”, “People For The American Way”, or the United Nations.
The Christian culture is about to change. Prepare for the ‘black cloud prophecies’ again (not because of Obama’s skin color’ but because there was a prophecy about this when Clinton was in office). Prepare to see the constant complaining and whining of Christians. Prepare to see televangelists shift their focus from ‘send them money to be prosperous’ to ‘send them money to form a political action committee and fight inside Washington D.C.’ and ‘send them money for God to forgive you of your sins’. Prepare for more mega fasts and pray-a-thons. Prepare for more ‘Family Alerts’ and canned faxes to sign and fax to your representatives. Prepare for more rallies of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Ann Coulter to get a rise out of their audiences choirs. Prepare for Christian television networks to moan about not being able to buy another television station.
It’s official… Obama has been elected President. Do American Christians join the ranks of the Anger Army and sit in the Angry Chair and proclaim (another Alice in Chains reference) …
Pink cloud has now turned to gray
All that I want is to play
Get on your knees time to pray
Or do we obey the Scriptures and pray for our leaders (and I do not mean bad things to happen to them)? Do we really have faith that God is sovereign and provident no matter what happens in this nation? Do we go out and fulfill the Great Commission or do we go hide out in our Christian bomb shelters not to come back out until four years later? The early church in the book of Acts taught us how to be Christians in perilous times such as now. It’s time to read that Word and guard it in our hearts…..
I still have a God to worship.
I still have a Bible to read and obey.
I still have a Great Commission to fulfill.

Right on, and well said.
Rush Limbaugh = C Peter Wagner
Lakeland = Government
Jesus = Life

Nice to hear from you again. Ever since Lakeland was over, Charisma shut down their forums because the majority of Christians disagreed with them, and other outside circumstances, I had hot seen you online.
I knew about the Charisma forums, but I never visited. It’s interesting to hear that they’ve shut down.
I like your post and agree with a lot of it. What I am wondering about these days is whether or not the GOP will survive. I wonder if we’re witnessing a shift that is similar to what happened when the Republicans broke away from the Whigs prior to the Civil War.
I think there are many people who consider themselves to be moderates and independents who feel stuck in the middle between two extremes. (I know I do.) I’m wondering if the time has finally come for independents to finally break away from the Republican and Democratic parties.
Perhaps not, but “it makes me wonder.”
MessengerBoy:
Charisma has shut down the ‘General topics’ section and no-one can start a thread there anymore.
I think that the GOP will survive and they will sever both the religious right zealot types and also the independent / unaffiliated voters from their party.
It’s been four days since…
My writing partner is a burned-out pastor in rural PA. Some of his congregation wouldn’t be out of place on Jerry Springer. He’s been doing damage control since before the election against a tide of End Time Prophecy fanboys and Angry Armies. So far, he’s been giving his “DON’T GO STUPID ON ME!” sermon three weeks in a row with no end in sight.
Hey, Ken! Whassup?
I’m the preacher Ken referred to.
The Sunday before the election, I preached on voting your conscience, but make sure you vote.
Last Sunday, I preached on, Obama ain’t the enemy. Engage worldviews in a respectful, godly manner. It’s what Christ would do.
This Sunday, I’m preaching on it’s been 19 days since the election and hell still has not vomited up the damned and the dead do not walk the Earth. We have a bigger problem. Our Sunday School program sucks.
