or you can title this “Playing Holy Hooky Part 2”
However, there was one problem…..
I didn’t play ‘holy hooky’ today…..
I know I probably sound like a hypocrite now…..
I actually decided to go to church this morning to see if we were going to get the ‘four years of gloom and doom’, the ‘big black cloud’ over this nation, the ‘judgment and wrath is on this nation…’, ‘the AntiChrist is in the White House’, the official Christian news media saying ‘God has left’ (Elton John Reference), and/or ‘the big black helicopter is on it’s way…’ speeches since Obama got elected.
I became very curious (and curiousity killed the cat) especially after listening to the ‘apostolic allegory’ called ’sermon’ I downloaded last week from the church I played ‘holy hooky’ from. There was no ‘direct command to vote’ for one particular person but the allegory was specifically designed to get one to think about who to vote for… or else…..
This, combined with receiving e-mails from e-friends around the US that told me that they ‘heard the stories’ at their Wednesday night services (my church doesn’t have those) and that their churches had already started recruiting for the “Anger Army” and the ‘fast-a-thon’ made me very interested to see if I was going to experience the same thing at my church this Sunday.
Believe it or not, I did not experience the recruiters of the “Anger Army” nor did I hear a sermon on ‘four years of gloom and doom’, the ‘big black cloud’ over this nation, the ‘judgment and wrath is on this nation…’, a ‘repent-a-thon’, ‘the AntiChrist is in the White House’, and/or ‘the big black helicopter is on it’s way…’ speeches
However, we did hear a prayer prayed for God to continue to have mercy on us and to give wisdom to our leaders and to bless them followed shortly by a statement saying ‘God may be about ready to leave America’. Followed by a sermon using the seven sons of Sceva in Acts 19:15 where it is stated:
…“Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?”
dealing more with who we are in Christ in the midst of perilous times and who is our faith in… our resources , our money, or God….
I was extremely glad that I didn’t get to hear any ‘Anger Army’ recruiting tactics nor any ‘four years of gloom and doom’, the ‘big black cloud’ over this nation, the ‘judgment and wrath is on this nation…’, ‘the AntiChrist is in the White House’, and/or ‘the big black helicopter is on it’s way…’
Next week, church business as usual….
