Why Did The Storms Happen?
I find it odd that
Kim Clement recently published another one of his ‘words’ that came forth in Oklahoma City in late January, 2009.
The Oklahoma City area was ravaged with tornadoes earlier this week.
—–
John Crowder and his crew recently went over in late January to Indonesia and did his gold dust thing.
Indonesia was ravaged by a major earthquake earlier this week and was also on high alert for a tsunami
—–
The first time Paul Cain ever met John Wimber in Anaheim, California, an earthquake occurred when Paul Cain arrived in Anaheim and occurred when Paul Cain left Anaheim.
—–
I find it interesting that after all these ‘false prophets’ show up and do their ‘miracles’ and ‘brag’ about them, natural disasters come forth. Why did these horrible weather phenomenons happen? Was it because…
(1): Satan did it because he ‘feared the anointing’ of these men.
or was it because
(2): God was so angry at the gross sins and mockery of His name that God sent his judgment down
or is it really ‘just a coincidence?

Let’s try a Biblical reason for these things.
The apostles prayed, saying this:
Acts 4
29Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. 30Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
31After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
Well, actually, their reasoning goes like this from what I’ve read and heard them say. The first example is very much what they say and the second one is very similar:
“California will have torrential rains because I am ‘cleansing’ the whole state.”
Or,
“Edmond, OK will have a tornado because I am shaking up the OKC area’s spiritual atmosphere and especially the demons that have parked themselves over that area, espeically over the University of Central Oklahoma.” [lolcated in Edmond where the tornado hit hard]
Clement & Crowder — Wow. That beats the guy I used to know who was into the occult up to his eyebrows and then some. He ended up with a reputation as a jinx; things would just go wrong or break down whenever he was around (even if only “present” by phone). I think most everybody he knew ended up bailing out on him. There’s a lesson in there somewhere…
Shawn:
Those verse apply to a simultaneous event. The earthquakes happened after these people came and went.
Sorry admin,
It says “after” they prayed the place was shaken. Let’s keep it biblical. Also, the scriptures say that signs will “follow” them that believe (Mark 16:17). I’ve seen lots of examples of prophets prophesying things in the Old and New Testaments, where the event happens weeks, years, even centuries after they predicted it. Of course, it’s not like the scriptures make a rule that something must happen “simultaneous” to a prayer. Do you always see answers the very second you pray?
I know this stuff may seem creepy to the uninitiated, but the power of God is not a light thing to make armchair assumptions about. I read that Paul Cain told Wimber that the earthquake would happen before he even arrived in Anaheim. I wouldn’t criticize lightly anyone who was walking in that level of authority, especially if I didn’t have a good pneumatology to back it up. Of course, none of these guys are perfect, but neither were the Biblical prophets
looking at verse 31, it was a simultaneous act, the place (not the entire city) was shaken, and no one died. In reference to guys like Crowder and Clement, it happened months later, the entire region experienced the inclement weather, and people died.
Also, in reference to “none of these guys are perfect, but neither were the Biblical prophets” In humanity, both these modern prophets and the Biblical prophets were human and therefore sinned. However the main difference is that most of these modern ’self-proclaimed’ prophets have had the vast majority of their prophecies proven to be false while the Biblical prophets had a perfect track record. Huge difference to me.
You say these prophets are “self-proclaimed” Some of them, like Crowder, have never called themselves prophets. In fact, he jokes about it and makes fun of people who indulge in lofty titles. If Old Testament prophets were never wrong, why did they have “schools of prophets”? Did you think prophets were born immediately out of lightning bolts, like the Terminator? No, they gradually learned to hear the voice of God over time, and sometimes didn’t get the full picture: like young Samuel in Eli’s house not knowing it was God speaking, or like the New Testament prophets who saw that Paul would be captured in Jerusalem, tied the ropes on him, but not fully recognizing that he was supposed to go to the city anyway. The scriptures say that we “see in part” and Paul also tells us to “eagerly desire” prophecy. Dude, this is foundational Christianity, that His sheep should hear his voice. Do you think God no longer speaks? Don’t you know that cessationism is a doctrine of demons?? Why would God speak to people in one era, then stop speaking in another era – a new era that is supposed to be a BETTER covenant? Why would he give a gift, then take it away? We are in a new covenant, where the Spirit of God actually resides within us. We should ALL be more prophetic now, than any Biblical prophet in the old covenant. Peter says we should speak EVERY WORD as if they are the very words of God. Paul says that ALL may prophesy. Let’s keep it biblical, bro. The least in the Kingdom, this side of the cross, would be greater than John the Baptist (the best prophet of the old covenant, according to Jesus). The prophets of old LONGED to see into our day, and have the revelation that we now have, thanks to Calvary. We are moving from glory to glory. God wouldn’t give us an inferior covenant, in place of a greater one. If he spoke in times past, then he will speak even more clearly today, always pointing us to Jesus.
Finally, to specifically address your natural disaster deal: read the Bible!! I cannot begin to count the times that people died after the word of a prophet was spoken! It’s not the prophet’s fault. He is just a mouth piece. God is the one who both gives life and the one who takes it away. He has the right to do that.
If you don’t like that, then you just don’t like the way God does business.
I acknowledge that a lot of these prophetic people get it wrong sometimes, but at least they are pressing in to hear the Lord more clearly. They all readily teach that you should not take their words as some kind of new canon of scripture. It is normal prophetic protocol that you “weigh” and discern prophetic words. For that you need the Spirit and the Word. Not every prophecy is going to be bang on. But we are also told in the New Testament not to “despise” prophecy.
I know it’s easy to make blanket judgements about these guys if you have not swam in the stream they are in. But lets at least learn a little more and hear their side of things before we lambast them on blogs.
Hey guys, just to follow up on my last comment … I’m really, really not trying to be critical against you. I honestly and sincerely just think that you guys would benefit from just some basic, scriptural Prophetic 101 teachings, which your churches maybe never held or experienced. I don’t say that as a jab, I’m just saying that there are so many basic, New Testament references to the prophetic, that you may be overlooking.
Without some prophetic 101, it would be extremely hard to grasp a Crowder, who is like a prophetic 808. He’s one of those guys sent to specifically challenge the prophets themselves. A lot of the “hot shot” prophets today don’t know how to handle him because he’s way outside their grid.
Not trying to debate with all of you, just want to provoke you a bit in love!
Regardless of the debate (or provocation if you will), what is the purpose of such statements issued by Clements or Crowder? They don’t see how they change anything and they I certainly don’t see them glorify God (except in the minds of people who agree with them). Am I out in left field here? (I’m trying to be nice.)
BTW, I meant to say “*I* don’t see how they change anything…” Sorry.
You say these prophets are “self-proclaimed†Some of them, like Crowder, have never called themselves prophets. In fact, he jokes about it and makes fun of people who indulge in lofty titles. — Shawn Harper
Crowder. This is the “Tokin’ the Ghost — YOING! YOING! YOING!” guy, right? How about we don’t call him a “prophet” and just call him “crazy”?
