Covenants and Football

17 October 2009 2 Comments

After reading sports sites, listening to sports radio, and getting ready to watch NFL football on Sunday, a very intriguing thought came to my mind…

College Football is so “old covenant” to me.

One mistake / loss and you are done for the season. You drop in the polls faster than a stock market crash. You lose your chance to go to the major college football bowls and instead settle for some minor bowl game.

Just like Moses, one mistake, he was done. There is no next week.

NFL is so “new covenant” to me.

One mistake, you receive forgiveness. You can somehow still win your division and go to the playoffs and possibly win the Super Bowl.

Just like Peter, forgiven, and ended up being a mighty man of God.

In many ways, that is always why I had always loved the pro game more than the college game. The chance to bounce back from adversity and possibly win it all.

So, are you saying that you’re in favor of playoffs for College football? :-)

      Henry:

Yes, the top eight teams like the NCAA basketball tournament. Playoff is much needed. I really think the BCS never gets the right teams for the championship every year.
