Christianity Today, Philip Yancey – ‘O, Evangelicos!’ – We need not abandon our name—just live up to it. Brilliant article on the true meaning of evangelical (evangelism) and a great last article for Yancey.
Internet Monk – Chaplain Mike Mercer: Evangelicals And The Pastoral Care of the Dying: The IM Interview This is a great article. Not too many pastors openly deal with the subject. Some churches now have a “pastor of care and counseling” that states in their job description that they do all the funerals for the church members and not the senior pastor staff. I have read horror stories online where some pastors will not do a funeral nor will they off end-of-life counselings.
Ligonier Ministries – The Gospel Is for the Broken about “Christian Alumni”
Bene Diction Blogs On – Todd Bentley with fingers in ears: “La la la, I’m not listening to you…” More about Todd’s future plans along with “Lakeland was just a foretaste” (cue ominious music)
TransplantMinistries.com – Lights, Camera, Fiction! Behind the Scenes of a “FauxVival” This link was in the comments section within one of the two articles from Bene Diction Blogs On. What really captivated me when I read this article was that it was one of the first articles to explore and analyze the stage and seating arrangements of the tent at Lakeland to show us that even this was ‘thought out’ to where the happy happy staff were in the front rows at the camera while the handicapped were off to the sides and back. Great insight.
